| About the National Observatory of Athens |
The National Observatory of Athens
is the oldest research institute in Greece, established in 1842
in the centre of Athens. In 1999 NOA was reorganised in four Institutes:
a) Environmental Research and Sustainable Development, (b) Astronomy
and Astrophysics, (c) Geodynamics and (d) Space Applications and
Remote Sensing.

NOA employs about 100 scientists, supported by a further
120 technical and administrative personnel. At present, there are
more than 100 research projects running at NOA.
